Privacy policy
1. Who we are
Carte Blanche runs private sessions and workshops on artificial intelligence for entrepreneurs in Montreal, and helps them put it to work in their business. This policy explains what we do with the personal information you send us through this site, in line with Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) and PIPEDA.
2. Person responsible
The person responsible for the protection of personal information is shown on this page, with their email address. Any question or request about your information can be sent to them.
3. What we collect
What you write in our two forms.
The newsletter form, at the bottom of every page:
- your email address.
The contact form:
- your name, your email address and your message.
If you agree, and only then, the site may also use three tools that set cookies in your browser:
- Microsoft Clarity, which shows how the pages are used (clicks, scrolling and recordings of visits, with anything you type masked);
- Google Analytics, which measures visits (pages viewed, device, approximate location and where the visit came from);
- the Meta Pixel, which records visits and actions on the site to show our ads on Facebook and Instagram and measure their results.
4. Why we use it
Your newsletter address is used only to send you the Carte Blanche newsletter. It is added to the list as soon as you send it, with no confirmation email. Your message is used only to read it and reply to you. Writing to us does not sign you up to the newsletter. We do not use your information for anything else without your consent. We do not sell or rent it.
If you accept them, the tools in section 3 are used to measure and improve the site (Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics) and for our advertising (the Meta Pixel).
5. Where it goes
The site is hosted by DigitalOcean, on a server in Toronto, outside Quebec. Cloudflare sits in front of that server and handles our two forms, on servers that may also be outside Quebec.
Your newsletter address is passed to Resend, which keeps our mailing list and hosts it in the United States. Resend receives only your address.
Your contact message reaches us as an email, sent by Cloudflare, and is kept in our mailbox. The site itself keeps no copy. Our email provider may host that data outside Quebec.
If JavaScript is blocked in your browser, the form opens your email app instead with what you wrote, and your message reaches us as an ordinary email.
If you accept the tools in section 3, what they collect is sent to Microsoft, Google and Meta, in the United States.
Paid workshops go elsewhere. Registration and payment happen on Luma, our event platform, under its own privacy policy. The site collects nothing for them.
6. How long we keep it
Your newsletter address, until you unsubscribe. It is then taken off the list. Your message, as long as it takes to reply and follow up on your question. Data from the tools in section 3, as long as each provider’s settings keep it. Your choice about cookies is kept in your browser. To unsubscribe or have your information deleted, write to the person responsible shown on this page, at any time.
7. Your rights
Under Law 25 you can ask to access your information, have it corrected, withdraw your consent or have it deleted. You can also file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec. To exercise any of these rights, write to the person responsible shown on this page.
When the tools in section 3 are active, a banner asks for your consent before any of them loads. The “Cookie settings” button at the bottom of every page then lets you change your mind at any time. The site works the same if you refuse them.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
